Stephen A. Smith was over the moon after the New York Knicks outclassed the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-1 to make the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, and he celebrated as only he could.

Taking to Twitter, the analyst broke into loud laughter saying, “One down, two more to go. I’m thinking finals, baby! I’m thinking, finals. Orange and blue skies! Go New York go. Yeah! Sorry about that Donovan Mitchell, I love you, brother. New York is in the house!”

Over the years, Smith has been vocal about how the Knicks were disappointing him and the rest of the fans, but now the side has gone past the first round of the postseason for the first time since 2013.

The Knicks reached the NBA Finals in 1999 but were no match for the San Antonio Spurs led by Tim Duncan and David Robinson. The following year, they made another trip to the Conference Finals but were pipped by the Indiana Pacers.

The Knicks will host the Miami Heat who stunned the Milwaukee Bucks 4-1, at the Madison Square Garden for Game 1 on Sunday.

NBA Fans React To Stephen A. Smith’s Celebration After The Knicks Beat The Cavaliers

While some fans saw the funny side of the story, some outright called out Smith for not being a true Knicks fan.

One fan wrote that the laughter on Smith’s lips was going to be short-lived.

Some of the fans believed that one loss was all it would take for Smith to go on his rant about the Knicks.

Another said the Knicks wouldn’t go past the Boston Celtics or the Philadelphia 76ers even if they vault over the Heat.

One fan celebrated with Smith.

A fan pulled out a clip from earlier this season where Smith shared his take on the Knicks with and without Donovan Mitchell.

The Knicks will be concerned about Julius Randle’s injury he suffered against the Cavaliers, and the focus will be on Jalen Brunson to lead them to wins against the formidable Heat outfit. Only time will tell if Smith will launch into another ecstatic celebration in the days to come.
