Josh Giddey was recently spotted on a night out with a woman, presumably his girlfriend, by an NBA fan, and as you might expect, things did not go well. The fan proceeded to record Giddey and the woman and mocked the Australian by questioning if she was of age.
“Oh my f***ing god, it’s f***ing Josh Giddey,” the fan said. “Is she of age?”

The fan, of course, said that because of that whole controversial situation involving Giddey allegedly dating an underage girl at one point. While this account claimed the 21-year-old was seen hanging outside Tulane’s campus on Monday night, some users on X made it clear that it was not possible.
The reason being, that Giddey and his Oklahoma City Thunder teammates had flown back home after Game 4 against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday. So, it is unclear when exactly this incident occurred, but it was presumably somewhere in New Orleans.
I do believe that this was totally uncalled for by this fan. I get that some might think it was rather funny, but it’s completely classless.
It would be one thing if the fan was genuinely concerned whether the woman was underage considering all that had happened, but he was just mocking Giddey there. I wouldn’t be surprised if others follow this fan’s lead and start bothering him like this whenever he is spotted outside with a woman.
The Josh Giddey Controversy
This whole scandal involving the Thunder guard began back in November 2023, when an anonymous individual accused Giddey of dating an underage girl who was still in junior high school. Some pictures and videos of the two were shared and social media was understandably outraged by the whole situation.
The NBA then launched an investigation into Giddey following those concerning allegations. He was allowed to keep playing while the league looked into the matter, a decision that was rather unpopular.
Soon after, it was revealed that Giddey was also under police investigation for the alleged relationship with that underage girl. That led to the NBA’s investigation being put to the side for a bit, as Commissioner Adam Silver stated they always take a backseat when there’s a police investigation.
That investigation by Newport Beach PD, however, had to deal with one big problem. It was reported that Giddey’s alleged underage girlfriend and her family were refusing to cooperate with the authorities.
They were not going to get anywhere unless the family cooperated and it appears their stance never changed. It was revealed in January 2024, that Giddey would not be facing charges over the alleged relationship. The authorities could find no evidence thanks largely to the family’s silence.
The NBA then resumed its investigation into Giddey’s sexual allegations, but nothing of substance has come out thus far. He has been allowed to keep playing and ended up featuring in 80 regular season games for the Thunder in 2023-24.
Giddey also played his part in the Thunder sweeping the Pelicans in the first round, as he averaged 12.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 0.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game. He also shot 47.4% from the field and 50.0% from beyond the arc in the series. He and the Thunder now await the winner of the series between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Dallas Mavericks.
