NBA Fan Makes A Strong Case Why Michael Jordan Wouldn’t Struggle Against Modern Athletes: “He Averaged 32.4 PPG Against The More Athletic Shooting Guards Than Most In Today’s NBA”

Most NBA fans and analysts believe that Michael Jordan is the GOAT of the NBA. The Chicago Bulls legend achieved a lot of amazing things in his career and helped the league become popular all around the globe.

While the consensus supports MJ’s case of being considered the GOAT, there is one argument that is used again and again against him. Yes, we are referring to the notion that what many believe is that MJ wouldn’t be able to play as well as he did in his career if he was an NBA player in today’s league.

The reasoning behind this is the fact that athletes in this day and era are more athletic and will be too much to handle for Mike. Well, one MJ fan on Twitter certainly seems to have taken offense to this narrative.

A Twitter user with the name “Simpleton Study Hall” tweeted about why Mike would dominate even in this era, using MJ’s stats against some of the better Shooting Guards from his era.

“Michael Jordan would struggle against today’s athletes.” * MJ’s numbers against Clyde Drexler, Latrell Sprewell, Reggie Lewis, Ron Harper & Eddie Jones. Tall talented SGs more athletic than most SGs today. * 1984-98 (91 games): 32.4 PPG • 6.3 RPG • 5.8 APG 2.8 SPG • 50.1 FG%.”

Now one might say that the players that the fan named are weak defenders? Well, he was ready for that argument and also tweeted:

“Also need to point out none of these guys are weak defenders. Clyde was above average, Latrell Sprewell 2x All-Defensive, Reggie Lewis was above average, Ron Harper arguably the best perimeter defender in the 90s to not make All-Defensive team, Eddie Jones 3x All-Defensive.”

Like most arguments, fans will present a counter-argument for this claim. Now, whether you believe that MJ is the GOAT or not is completely up to you.

But you cannot deny the fact that the way he dominated the league throughout his entire career (apart from his time with the Washington Wizards) isn’t something that fans will see again for a long time.
