Joel Embiid recently raised a lot of eyebrows around the league with some remarks about the Philadelphia 76ers’ chances to win the NBA championship.
The Cameroonian-born player said that winning a championship isn’t everything and the Sixers have remained competitive for a long time despite not getting the title.
“Obviously, everybody is always basing everything on winning a championship,” Embiid said. “But that’s not all that matters. Obviously, you want to win a championship. These words weren’t welcomed by a lot of people in the league, with fans going after the center, who recently revealed he’s not focused on the 2023 NBA MVP award. These comments and the fact that he avoids facing direct rivals for the award make a lot of people doubt Embiid’s MVP pedigree.

The Philadelphia 76ers have tried to win the championship since they landed both Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. The point guard isn’t on the team anymore, and they look better with James Harden teaming up with Embiid.
