With the offseason in full swing, we’re still months away from the start of NBA action. For diehard basketball fans around the globe, this period of the year can be long and grueling.

So, to compensate, fans on social media engage in all types of debates and narratives about their favorite players. On Saturday, ‘The Volume’ sent out one tweet that had many ‘hoop heads’ split.

With a lineup of Kevin Garnett, Tracy McGrady, Steve Nash, Allen Iveson, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwight Howard, they asked users to pick one star to come off the bench. Needless to say, the replies were entertaining.

Out of all the replies, nobody picked Kevin Garnett to come off the bench, and it makes sense why. He’s probably the best pure hooper of the bunch and the only one of them who has a championship to his name. He’s a lock for the starting lineup.

Everyone else is up for debate, but the vast majority of fans picked either Melo or Iverson for the chopping block. Despite what they provide offensively, both players are flawed on the defensive side of the ball and had a reputation for being ball stoppers.

The good news is that Iverson got his flowers in a similar type of exercise back in July.

“The names of Allen Iverson, James Harden, Chris Paul, and Russell Westbrook might come to mind when we talk about this subject. All four players have had amazing individual campaigns at some point in their careers.

Keeping that in mind, the popular Twitter page “NBA Central” asked its fans to pick one player from the four that they would pick to let go… and when you compare Russell Westbrook’s skill set to that of CP3, AI, and Harden, he is still arguably a notch below the other three superstars in their primes. All things considered, it might not be an easy choice, but the only correct answer seems to be Westbrook…”

These types of debates are never easy for fans. These scenarios basically set them up to eliminate one of the game’s all-time top players from their team.

In this case, fans showed a clear preference for Garnett, Nash, and McGrady over Anthony and Iverson. Nothing against them, but the nature of their game is much more one-dimensional than some of the others.
