Being the ‘last’ pick in the NBA All-Star game is like being the poorest millionaire. Every single player in the game is considered the best in the world and there’s no denying the talent they bring.
But when the All-Star draft format was revealed as a pre-game event, we all knew what it would mean for the final All-Star pick.
As the final one picked from the reserves, Grizzlies star Jaren Jackson Jr. was essentially the last man standing. And, just as we expected, it resulted in countless trolls online.

Yes, Jaren Jackson Jr. DEFINITELY doesnβt feel like the last pick now.
Great job, NBA. That was a close one.

LeBron had the last roster spot for reserves, so he had no choice but to pick up JJJ, who brought good defense and size to the team.
of course, had a good time poking fun at the guy, but it’s really not that deep for these players. Somebody had to be the last pick, but it doesn’t necessarily mean they are less deserving of their All-Star spot than anyone else.
Still, we’ve already seen the NBA try and address the ‘final pick’ issue so it remains to be seen if the All-Star draft will continue to exist in this format.
As for Jaren, he’s likely not giving his draft placement a second thought. As a first-time All-Star, he’s happy to just be a part of the event.
JJJ Is Having An Underrated Season
Jaren may have been the last All-Star pick this year, but his season overall has been nothing short of extraordinary. With averages of 16.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.3 blocks per game, he’s been performing above expectations this year and may become an All-Star starter soon if he continues his trajectory.
Regardless of your opinions on the young stud, it has been an impressive run for Jackson and he stands as a living reminder of how deep and talented the NBA really is.
If a guy like him gets picked last in the All-Star draft, it just goes to show how good his peers really are. Seems like Jackson will have some extra motivation to play his best game and prove he’s not the least of the All-Star group.
