Draymond Green will not be playing in the Warriors’ next five games, earning himself a suspension for choking Rudy Gobert in the Warriors vs. Wolves game from last night. Fans around the NBA are conflicted about the punishment.

“The NBA is suspending Golden State’s Draymond Green for five games, sources tell ESPN. Significant hit for the Warriors.”

Fans were quick to say that Green deserved a bigger suspension.

Fans believe the league has a track record of going easy on Green, which has reflected in this decision.

One fan shared a highlight reel of dirty plays by Green as the best moments of his career.

Warriors fans were trying their best to make sure their defensive anchor wasn’t suspended.

Fans think the league didn’t fully base it on his history of unsportsmanlike actions, because that would have meant a longer suspension.

Fans joked about Woj terming Draymond’s absence as a ‘significant hit for the Warriors.’

Some fans did find the punishment reasonable.

The Warriors will be massively depleted with Green’s suspension, as Stephen Curry is currently dealing with an ankle injury. While many expected him to play through it, the two-time MVP missed the Warriors’ loss to the Wolves and is expected to miss another couple of games.

Green will return on November 28 against the Sacramento Kings. The game will be part of the In-Season Tournament, with Draymond missing one In-Season Tournament Game against the Spurs as well. This would lead to Draymond missing out on almost $800,000 from his season earnings.

Rudy Gobert Was Furious With Draymond Green

Rudy Gobert went off on an explosive rant against Green after the game. He referred to Green’s actions as clown behavior and then reiterated that Green legitimately tried to choke him out but failed.

“I do hope the league’s going to do whatever needs to be done because that’s just clown behavior. It’s kind of funny because, before the game, I was telling myself that Steph is not playing, so I know Draymond was going to try and get ejected… He’s grabbing me, he’s grabbing me, he’s grabbing me. But the choke wasn’t good enough. Yeah, it wasn’t enough for me to have to (go to sleep). But he tried. He tried really hard, but it wasn’t good enough to where I felt like I was really in danger of falling asleep or something like that.”

A doctor also confirmed that Green had genuine ill intentions when he had the put Gobert in the headlock, it’s just that he didn’t have the technique down to choke out the French center.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has defended Draymond, claiming the Warriors’ forward was protecting Klay Thompson, the man who started the scuffle in the first place with Jaden McDaniels.

“If you watch the replay, Rudy had his hands on Klay’s neck, and that’s why Draymond went after Rudy,” Kerr said. “I saw one replay right after it happened. Guys on the back of the bench were telling us that Rudy had Klay and that’s why Draymond went at Rudy. That’s all I know.”

The 6-6 Warriors will pray they can keep their head above water for the next five games, otherwise, they’ll have a significant hole to climb out of to stay in the playoff hunt.
