Rudy Gobert played a crucial role in an early-first quarter scuffle between the Warriors and Wolves, which saw three players get ejected. Draymond Green was one of them, as he put Gobert in a chokehold that many believe could get him suspended. Gobert called that ‘clown behavior’ and attacked Draymond for wanting to get ejected because Stephen Curry was not playing.
“Every time Steph doesn’t play, he doesn’t want to play without his guy Steph so he does anything he can to get ejected.”

Ouch. Many fans on social media were criticizing Draymond along the same lines, but Gobert saying it in a media interaction is wild. We can’t necessarily say Draymond did it because Steph wasn’t playing, considering this was his second ejection in three games. He also got into a verbal altercation with Anthony Edwards in his last game.
Green has been extra agitated to start the season and is picking fights that Curry needs to win for him. Doing what he did today as a veteran leader when Curry wasn’t on the court was pretty shameful. Even though the youngsters in Golden State tried their best to steal this win, Steph being out with Dray and Klay getting ejected meant they simply didn’t have enough weapons to maximize this performance.
Steve Kerr Attacks Rudy Gobert For His Role In The Scuffle
Gobert gained a lot of sympathy for the attack from Green because of how unnecessary Draymond’s aggression was. However, many Warriors fans claim Gobert should’ve been ejected as well for putting his arm around Klay Thompson when Klay was getting into it with Jaden McDaniels.
While league officials looked at Gobert’s role in the scuffle as a peacemaker, Steve Kerr didn’t look at it the same way.
“There’s no way Klay Thompson should’ve been thrown out of the game… Guys on the back were telling me Rudy had his hands on Klay’s neck, that’s why Draymond went after him.”

At that moment, it’d be fair for the Warriors to assume Gobert wasn’t intending to be a peacemaker and was looking to attack Klay. To be fair, Gobert should never have put his hands around Klay because he’s on the opposing team. Restraining McDaniels would’ve been better, but he likely didn’t think of everything with this clarity at the moment.
Regardless of anything, Draymond’s actions were excessive, as pictures from the incident show that Green was ready to choke Gobert out if he could. The pair have a troublesome history together, so it’s likely the league office will reprimand Green severely after the game.
The Warriors Blow A Big Lead Without Their Stars
Despite not having Curry and losing Thompson and Green, the Warriors put up a great fight against the Wolves. They controlled the pace for most of the game, enjoying a 12-point lead in the second half. Unfortunately, they completely fell apart in the fourth quarter and got outscored by 10 points to lose the game.
Rookie Brandin Podziemski had 23 points while Dario Saric chipped in with 21. Even Chris Paul put up 15 points, but another bad game from Andrew Wiggins and a lack of star talent compared to the Wolves sunk the Warriors tonight.
Minnesota saw their star man Anthony Edwards disappoint with just 20 points on inefficient shooting, but Karl-Anthony Towns showed up and dropped 33 points with 11 rebounds. Mike Conley had only 13 points on the night, but three of those points came with a game-clinching three to walk away with the win.
This extends the Wolves winning streak to seven games, while the Warriors have now lost three in a row.
