Los Angeles Lakers fans are happy with D’Angelo Russell returning for his second stint with the Purple and Gold, but they will surely be happier if Kyle Kuzma rejoins them as well.

The Washington Wizards forward was all praise for Russell after the latter put up a game-winning performance for the Lakers in their 120-102 win against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Taking to Twitter, Kuzma had a simple response to the guard’s outing. In his usual quirky simple way, he tweeted:

“Yea dlo”

On their part, the fans just wanted Kuzma back as a Laker.

And Russell finished with 21 points, 2 rebounds, and 7 assists. The former No. 2 pick was roped in as the Lakers’ answer to their shooting woes.

Lakers Interested In Extending D’Angelo Russell In The Summer

Such has been the immediate impact that Russell has made on the side that reports of the front office extending him well past the ongoing season have been doing the rounds.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers were keen to extend the former LA guard:

“D’Angelo Russell returns to the Lakers at 26 years old on the final year of a 4-year, $117 million contract. Both the Lakers and D’Angelo Russell have already expressed their interest in starting conversations on a contract extension. Russell could be a free agent this summer but the Lakers gave up a first-round pick, two second-round pick, not to be a rental but to be a solution at that position.”

For now, the Lakers’ game plan might be extending Russell, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura while also adding Beasley’s team option to give the side more time to gel and be a more formidable unit.

The Lakers are yet to make the Top 10 this season and hit the .500 mark. With Russell’s presence making things easy for the side on the scoring front, only time will tell if they can indeed go the distance.
