In just a matter of a few days, the Brooklyn Nets have fallen way down in the odds of winning the 2023 NBA Championship. After all, losing both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline is something that the fanbase of the franchise didn’t see coming.

Speaking of Kyrie Irving, his time with the Brooklyn Nets was plagued with a lot of controversies. Be it his stance on not getting the COVID-19 vaccine or his controversial tweet sharing a link to a movie featuring anti-Semitic content.

With that being said, many turned against Kyrie Irving and blamed him for the downfall of the Brooklyn Nets organization in the last year or so. But was Kyrie really in the wrong? After all, if that was the case, at least one or two current players of the Nets would have come out and spoken against him.

NBA Insider Details How Kyrie Irving Was Disrespected By The Brooklyn Nets

Whether someone is a fan of Kyrie Irving or not, one thing which they all should admit about Kyrie is a baller. His skill on the basketball court is truly elite, and as a result, even after being surrounded by drama, he is always in demand in the NBA.

Coming back to Kyrie’s time with the Brooklyn Nets, Kristian Winfield of the NY Daily News recently wrote a piece about how the 30-year-old was disrespected by the Nets on three different occasions.

Starting things off with the team when Kyrie didn’t want to get vaccinated. After Irving’s stance was clear, it was the Brooklyn Nets who banned Kai from road games. According to Winfield, the Nets simply folded when Irving needed the utmost support from the franchise.

Irving himself admitted that it was one of the three reasons why he felt disrespected by the team. The second one was when Irving’s controversy around his anti-Semitic comments ballooned.

Initially, the Nets claimed to support him completely. But as soon as the situation started to get out of hand, the Nets yet again folded and suspended Kyrie indefinitely. It was only when Irving returned to the roster that the Nets truly started to dominate teams in the 2022-23 NBA season.

Another example of the Nets not taking Kyrie seriously was when there were rumors about the team waiting it out before giving Irving a contract extension. When Irving demanded a trade from the Nets, the organization hadn’t shown any enthusiasm in renewing Kyrie’s contract.

Even after Irving’s departure from the team, general manager Sean Marks continues to take shots at the former Nets superstar. All things considered, the relationship between the two sides was damaged beyond repair, and Kyrie decided to leave the team.
