NBA Insider Reveals What Miami Heat Are Willing To Offer For Damian Lillard

It’s been weeks since Damian Lillard first issued his trade request, and the Miami Heat have yet to close the deal on a trade that would send him to Miami. As the only team on Lillard’s wish list, the Heat have leverage in this situation, and it makes sense why they’d be reluctant to offer all of their remaining assets.

Recently, one NBA Insider from the Oregonian said that Miami is, so far, only willing to part with three picks and Tyler Herro in the deal.

“If Portland can come out of this with four firsts, at least 1 if not 2 young talents and salary filler, that should get it done. I’m told that right now, Heat has 3 firsts, Herro, filler, and maybe a young player already—like willing to go w/ that…I’m told it’s pretty close.”

Miami’s trade package isn’t ideal for the Blazers, who have no need to add Herro to an already established group of talented young guards. But if Portland fails to find a third team in this deal, they may have to work on getting the best they can from the Heat, even if it means accepting something less than you planned for.

Lillard Trade Could Take Months According To Joe Cronin

With only Miami on the board right now, and four years left on Lillard’s deal, there’s no rush for Portland to make a trade right now. In fact, if they really want the best return possible, it would be in their best interest to carry this out for as long as possible.

“In any deal, the goal is to come out with the best outcome,” said the Blazers GM. “It could be more of a win-now player. It could be a young player and picks. It could be just picks. There’s no set parameters. We’re going to be patient. If it takes months, it takes months.”

It could be some time before Lillard is traded, which means things could get ugly in Portland before we see any kind of resolution.
