There has. been much debate recently about the race for MVP. Though one could argue Giannis has been the clear frontrunner all season long, there is a new push for LeBron James to win the crown.
Following last night's game, his superstar teammate, Anthony Davis, made the case for Bron's 5th MVP win.
"LeBron's the MVP. That's it. What he's been able to do taking on matchups defensively. Leading the pack offensively. Making the right plays. And his team is number one in the West."
It is true that James is doing everything this season. He's playing dominant defensively, he's averaging 25 points and a career-high 10.6 assists while leading his team to the best record in the West.
In comparison, Giannis also has his team atop the standings with a league-best 53-11 record on averages of 29.6 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game on 54% shooting.
There are certainly arguments to be made for both and neither should be taken for granted.
But for James especially, the fact that he's even in the MVP conversation at this stage of his career is a feat in itself. This season, we are truly being reminded of one of the things that makes LeBron so great: longevity.
