Ben Simmons Is Reportedly Drawing Zero Interest From Around The NBA

Ben Simmons apparently has no interest from teams across the league as a potential trade target.

The Brooklyn Nets are now likely committed to reshaping their team after they recently traded away Kyrie Irving. There is speculation that Kevin Durant will be the next player out of the door, and if that happens, then it doesn’t make sense for them to hold on to Ben Simmons either. But trading him sounds easier than it will prove to be in practice.

There was a time a few seasons ago when Ben Simmons was one of the most coveted talents in the league. He made an All-NBA Team and a couple of All-Defensive Teams, and there was serious speculation about whether the Philadelphia 76ers should trade away Joel Embiid and build around Simmons.

All that looks incredibly foolish now. Simmons never recovered from a shambolic series against the Atlanta Hawks and was allowed to revive his career with the Brooklyn Nets. But he has seriously failed to do that, putting up incredibly mediocre stats this season, with some mediocre defense as well. Kevin Durant is hardly a fan of Simmons at this time, either. And this has led to reports that no teams are interested in Ben Simmons at this time.

A couple of Nets notes from @BobbyMarks42 on @KeyJayandMax:

1. Ben Simmons has no value around the league right now in any potential deal.

2. If the Nets decide to move KD — their return would be greater this summer than it would be before Thursday’s trade deadline.

“Ben Simmons has no value around the league right now in any potential deal.”

Simmons’ contract runs till 2025, and the star is making upwards of $37 million in both remaining years of his deal. This is all while he looks completely washed and nothing like the player he was and promised to be. As such, it’s no surprise that his value is negligible around the league; there is little chance any team will be too interested in taking on a massive deal for a player who looks done.

NBA Insider Opened Up On Ben Simmons’ Future With The Nets

Even before the Kyrie Irving trade went through, Ben Simmons was not looking like he would be held in high regard by the Nets. And with the Nets not having much draft capital to package along with Simmons, they could be stuck with him if The Athletic is to be believed.

“As for trading Simmons, good luck with that. The Nets would need to attach draft picks, not receive them, and — last I checked — they need a permission slip from the Rockets to do anything with any of their draft capital.”

Ultimately, it will be up to Ben on if he wants to step it up and rehabilitate his image in the league. Until that happens, though, he remains one of the players whom no organization will really want to trade for, and it promises to be a big headache for the Nets.
