The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for upgrades in the paint and recently decided to go look for a big man in the free market, running into two former NBA players that are still looking to get an opportunity in the league.

It was first reported that DeMarcus Cousins would get a workout with them, which is a good opportunity for him to show that he can still be valuable in the league. Then, the controversial Meyers Leonard was also invited to try out for the Purple and Gold, apparently leaving good sensations.

Things are getting interesting for the Lakers, who have suffered some injuries in recent times, yet remain two games away from the 6th spot in the Western Conference. If they find the right piece, the situation could get even better for them.

Los Angeles Lakers Worked Out Two Veteran Centers

Team head coach Darvin Ham spoke about these two players, revealing his thoughts on what he saw on them. Cousins and Leonard are relatively young and can bring a couple of things to the table coming off the bench, but the Lakers are yet to make a decision.

Still, Ham sounded very confident in them when discussing their workout, but this doesn’t assure anything.

Darvin Ham acknowledged that DeMarcus Cousins and Meyers Leonard both worked out yesterday — said they were “great,” remains to be seen if either can help the Lakers this season.

The Lakers are still trying to find ways to improve their level. They’ve been linked with Zach LaVine in recent days, but also Kyle Lowry and Fred VanVleet. The Purple and Gold know that they are one or two moves away from being legit contenders, but fans are still waiting to see if the front office makes a trade.

They are still good and can compete in the West, but to reach their goals this season, their current roster won’t be enough.
