It’s official: the 5th episode of “The Last Dance” will be dedicated to Kobe Bean Bryant, a 5x NBA Champion who tragically passed away in January.
It’s no secret that the Mamba and Mike had profound respect for each other. And although they never really clashed in their NBA careers, Kobe often utilized many of MJ’s moves and strategies into his own game.
On “The Last Dance,” which was filmed before his death, he shared some thoughts about Jordan, his career, and the impact he had on the game:
“He’s like my big brother,” Bryant said. “I truly hate having discussions about who would win one-on-one. You heard fans saying, ‘Hey, Kob, you beat Michael one-on-one.’ I feel like, yo, what you get from me is from him. I don’t get five championships here without him because he guided me so much and gave so much great advice.”

Obviously, MJ was a major role model for Bryant. In his own words, he helped guide and shape his career into what it became.
We don’t have Kobe now, and he never got to react to this documentary with us, but at least he was able to share a bit about his own experience with MJ. For that, we will always be thankful.
