Former NBA player Lou Williams appeared on the latest episode of Byron Scott’s Fast Break podcast, where he shared a hilarious Kobe Bryant story. Williams was with the Los Angeles Lakers when the infamous D’Angelo Russell-Nick Young snitching incident took place and revealed that Bryant shut down a team meeting that was held to mend fences.

“When Nick and DLo were going through they thing—when they had an issue—I had to deal with a lot of it, ’cause I was the vet in the locker room, and I was present,” Williams said. “I remember DLo calling me, and he was like, ‘OG, I f****d up.’ (I said), ‘Yeah, you f****d up.’ I said, ‘Man, you got to call Nick. Y’all got to get that right.'”

“They had that friendship where they always bothered each other, they always ran pranks and they just went too far,” Williams continued. “I said, ‘Man, call him and y’all get on the same page bro, and let’s have a conversation as a group tomorrow. Let’s get over it.’

“So we put it out there we was going to have a team meeting right before the game for DLo to address the team, address Nick, apologize, let’s wash our hands with it,” Williams stated. “Let’s try to move on. Everybody is in the lounge, we chilling out. Nick comes in, DLo comes in, the whole team, everybody sits down minus Kob by the way. 24 not there yet.

“So, he’s probably in the building, he just not interested in what the f*** we got going on,” Williams added. “So, DLo is starting his speech, and honestly, it’s helping. We breaking the wall down. People don’t realize, for two or three weeks it was a lot of tension. They really wanted to have a fight. They really wanted a problem. Nick couldn’t even come around.

“So, we finally got them to get in the same room and have a conversation,” Williams said. “And DLo was going through his whole thing (like), ‘Yo, I apologize. You know, I took it too far, this and that.’ And everybody kind of chipping in… It’s a good moment for us because we were having our struggles a little bit.

“Kob walks clean through the meeting and says, ‘Hey man, cut all this Kumbaya s***. We got a game to play,'” Williams stated. “… It just squashes the meeting and everybody looked around like, ‘Well… let’s get ready to play basketball.'”

Well, I suppose Bryant is to blame for the fact that Young and Russell still haven’t mended fences. Who knows how different their relationship would be today had he not shut down this meeting?

As Williams pointed out, Young and Russell were close at one point, but their relationship fell apart in March 2016. Russell had secretly recorded Young admitting that he was cheating on his then-fiancee Iggy Azalea and the video somehow leaked online. You can check it out below.

This video leak would prove to be the beginning of the end of Young and Azalea’s relationship. The two had announced their engagement on June 1, 2015, and just over a year later on June 19, 2016, they revealed they’d split.

Azalea didn’t point to the leak being the reason for it, though. She claimed she had found out that Young had brought other women to their house when she was away and that was that for her.
