In what comes as a surprise development, the NBA has rescinded Luka Doncic’s 16th technical foul against the Charlotte Hornets, and that means the Dallas Mavericks star is eligible to play against the Indiana Pacers.

Doncic’s 16th tech meant an automatic one-game suspension. It came on the back of the guard’s reaction to not receiving a foul call for one of his drives midway through the third quarter.

Now, Dallas, who have lost four games on the trot and have a sorry 7-13 record to show for since the arrival of Kyrie Irving, have a chance to arrest the slide and claw their way back into playoff contention  — a race they are out of at the moment.

The side will be buoyed by the news of Doncic’s return. The Slovenian has been in red-hot form averaging 33.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.2 assists this season, and is still key to their postseason aspirations.

Irving has been a force with 27.6 points, 6.1 assists, and 5.4 rebounds, and now the duo will have a shot to get the Mavericks back to winning ways.

Kyrie Irving Backs Luka Doncic Amid Mavericks’ Struggles

Irving has always been vocal about his support for his teammates, and earlier, he said he was “proud” of Doncic for being able to acknowledge his on and off-court issues.

“I’m proud of him for being honest about it,” Irving said. “We’ve just got to really put our arm around him as a brother, as a human being.”

The Mavericks are in dire straits at the moment. Their string of losses has put them in 11th place in the Western Conference standings with a 36-39 record. If there was ever a time that Doncic and Irving would have to show how much a championship means to them, then the time is now.

All said, they do have a challenging road ahead. They play the Pacers next, followed by tough matchups against the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat.
