Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks were expected to be among the best teams in the NBA following a blockbuster trade for Kyrie Irving around the NBA trade deadline.

However, the Mavericks have seemingly gotten worse by adding Irving to the roster. Fans saw another example of it as the Mavericks shockingly lost against the Charlotte Hornets. Following the defeat, Luka Doncic, who is usually one of the happiest players on the court, expressed his frustration.

“It’s really frustrating. I think you can see it with me on the court. Sometimes I don’t feel it’s me. I’m just being out there, you know? I used to have really fun smiling on court, but it’s just been so frustrating for a lot of reasons, not just basketball.”

Luka denied opening up about other issues that have led to him getting frustrated. It is sad to see one of the brightest superstars in the NBA going through such a challenging phase in his career.

Many are worried that Luka’s admission about getting frustrated could be problematic for the Mavericks. While Luka is locked in with the Mavs for five years, he may demand a trade in the offseason if the Mavericks fumble Kyrie Irving’s contract negotiations this summer.

The Dallas Mavericks Have Fallen Out Of The Play-In Spot

Following a shameful 109-117 defeat at the hands of the Charlotte Hornets, the Dallas Mavericks have now fallen to a 36-38 record.

They are two wins below the .500 mark and are currently the 11th seed in the Western Conference. Considering how competitive the West is this season, this is certainly not good news for Doncic, Irving, and the Mavericks.

There are only eight games left to be played in the 2022-23 NBA season. Currently, the Mavericks are not even making the play-in tournament, and it feels like Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving’s first season as teammates will end on a nasty note.
