The Milwaukee Bucks, for as good as they have been this season, are looking to get better. According to K.C. Johnson on The Fastbreak, the Milwaukee Bucks will look to get involved in the Jimmy Butler trade in order to get their hands on Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls.

“The Milwaukee Bucks, who do have interest in Zach LaVine, will be one of those teams trying to get in on that deal and the Bulls will be another team trying to get in on that deal.”

Zach LaVine currently makes $43 million this season and makes a combined $95 million over the next two seasons (player option in 2026). One has to wonder how the Bucks will land LaVine, considering they have two All-Stars, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, who make a lot of money.

Giannis Antetokounmpo currently earns $48 million this season and will have a three-year, $175 million contract extension kick in at the start of next season. As for Damian Lillard, he makes $48 million this season, and the two-year contract extension he signed with the Trail Blazers before leaving also kicks in next season, which pays him $112.5 million over the two seasons (player option in 2026).

There is almost no cap flexibility that the Milwaukee Bucks will have should they trade for Zach LaVine while holding on to Giannis and Lillard. And given how the two are playing, the Bucks are unlikely to let Antetkounmpo and Dame be traded to the Chicago Bulls or any other team in the deal.

What Would A Bucks Trade For LaVine Look Like?

It’s hard to picture what a trade for Zach LaVine would look like from the Milwaukee Bucks. The team definitely has an interest in LaVine to form a big three to help solidify their championship contention status. Perhaps this is why the Bucks have made Khris Middleton and Bobby Portis available for trades.

Getting those two players off the Bucks. along with either Brook Lopez or Pat Connaughton, who both earn significant salaries, might be the only way they can pair yet another massive salary along with Antetokounmpo and Lillard.

LaVine has been playing well this season, as he is trying to bounce back. He currently averages 24.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.2 blocks while shooting 51.2% from the field, 44.4% from beyond the arc, and 79.2% from the free-throw line.

He is currently putting up All-Star numbers, and having one of his best seasons for quite some time. And with the Chicago Bulls clearly attempting to rebuild, they might feel that it would be best for them to get rid of their big-money players like LaVine and Nikola Vucevic to get things started.

Will the Milwaukee Bucks end up completing their deal for Zach LaVine? It’s hard to see how they make the numbers work, but one can’t rule out how the franchise will make things work out.
