Jimmy Butler Continues Trolling Miami Heat On Instagram After Third Suspension

The Miami Heat handed out their third suspension to Jimmy Butler today. And in classic Jimmy Butler fashion, he responded by trolling. He posted a video of the character Tommy from the 90s sitcom ‘Martin’ on his Instagram feed. Tommy is regularly mocked on the show for not having a job, something Butler feels like he can maybe relate to after his third straight suspension from the Heat.

At this point, the Heat need to accelerate their trade talks and move Jimmy Butler as soon as possible. The situation between the team and the former All-Star grows more untenable as each day passes by. And given the way Butler responded to the indefinite suspension, he doesn’t seem to be backing down any time soon.

Butler’s previous suspension came for missing a team flight. He reportedly made the Heat squad wait for him at the airport for hours, without even giving them an update on his whereabouts.

The Heat are reportedly still waiting on the best offer that they can get for Butler. They have made their demands perfectly clear for any deal, as they want young players, several draft picks, and expiring contracts. But with Butler continuing to stir trouble, they lose leverage with every passing moment.

One of the teams that have made their interest in Jimmy Butler well known. Unfortunately for them, Butler has no interest in moving to the Grizzlies, although reports suggest the Grizzlies are okay with making a deal for Butler on a rental before losing him in free agency.

For the Miami Heat, time is running out. Pat Riley’s efforts to try and maximize their trade package have not yielded the best results. So far, no other team has crafted a package to the liking of the Heat. Given how Butler is behaving, many of them might opt to wait and see how desperate the Heat turns as he continues to make things uncomfortable.

Where Does Jimmy Butler End Up?

If it were up to Jimmy Butler, he would be on the Phoenix Suns roster. Unfortunately, the Suns will need to move Bradley Beal as part of any big deal they make. But with Beal holding a no-trade clause in his contract, any trade they make will have to be with Beal’s blessing.

The Heat don’t necessarily want Beal, as he earns a lot of money, about $50 million per season till 2026, and that is without him taking up his player option, which could carry the deal all the way till 2027. The Heat might still accept Beal if he agrees to surrender his player option.

The Miami Heat want to have all of their major big-money players off the books by the summer of 2026, as the 2026 free agency class is one of the most stacked in recent memory.

The Heat have made it clear they will prioritize their own future over Butler’s demands. But at this point, with how Butler is behaving, they might as well be one and the same.
