NBA Fans Destroy Nico Harrison After Quentin Grimes Drops 46-Point Double-Double: “Worse Than The Luka Trade”

Nico Harrison bizarrely chose to trade Quentin Grimes just days after the Luka Doncic trade. And fans are never going to let that go.

Quentin Grimes has been a revelation since joining the Philadelphia 76ers. The young guard got traded from the Dallas Mavericks to the 76ers just a few days after the bombshell Luka Doncic trade. And since the trade, he has been nothing but excellent. Tonight, he had one of his best games ever, dropping 46 points (15-27 FG), 13 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.

On the 76ers, Grimes is finally achieving his true potential, averaging 21.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game while shooting 51.0% from the field, 39.3% from beyond the arc, and 71.4% from the free-throw line. His performances this season beg the question – why did Mavs GM Nico Harrison choose to trade him?

NBA fans reacted to this conundrum on X with many pointing out just how bad this trade makes Harrison and the Mavericks look. Some noted that this trade only compounds the reputation of incompetence the front office has developed since the Luka Doncic trade. While others admitted that this trade might be worse in hindsight.

“All these guys need is a chance in the NBA man. Grimes is a HOOPER!”

“Nico Harrison should be banned from ever setting foot in a basketball arena again… is what I would say if I weren’t a Lakers fan!”

“And they attached their last 2nd round pick with him LMAOOOOOOOOO.”

“I truly don’t get why they traded him away.”

“Considering what they got back this is honestly worse than the Luka trade.”

“Mavs fans are never sleeping again.”

“Nico gotta start filling out applications. No position of authority. So he can’t fire the employee of the year.”

“Nico Harrison should be brought up on charges.”

“WTF?! At this point, Nico Harrison should also maybe trade away Klay so he will stop sucking at basketball.”

“It’s okay, they have a team as the owner shared that puts shivers down the opponents’ spines. The Mavs are building a dynasty.”

Well, as funny as all the comments from all the fans were, it still doesn’t answer the question as to why the Mavericks traded Grimes.

Well, fans can cut the front office some slack here, as it appears that Quentin asked his agent to demand a trade after the Luka Doncic trade. According to Kevin O’Connor Seeing the arrival of Max Christie, who plays the same position as him, as a sign of his future, Grimes demanded a trade so that he could get consistent playing time going forward.

On the Mavericks, Grimes did play well, averaging 10.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game. His numbers have improved drastically on the 76ers. So in hindsight, he made the right decision for his career by demanding a trade after Christie arrived in Dallas.
