Warriors Have Asked About Every NBA All-Star For A Trade

The Golden State Warriors have been aggressively pursuing every All-Star in the NBA ahead of the trade deadline.

Shams Charania of ESPN recently reported on the Pat McAfee show that the Golden State Warriors have made calls and inquiries for every NBA All-Star on the market ahead of the February 6th trade deadline. It appears that the Dubs are desperate to land a second All-Star to pair alongside Stephen Curry in an effort to salvage their season.

“The Warriors are legitimately calling about every All-Star player. You name the All-Star player, the Warriors have probably called for them. They made calls on every star. That includes players like LeBron, Kevin Durant, and Jimmy Butler. They are making calls. They are dead set on trying to find another superstar player with Stephen Curry.”

The Warriors have been very active in trade talks with several teams over the last few weeks. They were initially looking to land Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic in a trade but weren’t willing to match the Bulls’ high asking price. As a result, LaVine was traded to the Sacramento Kings.

They also made heavy overtures to Jimmy Butler. However, the former All-Star informed them that he would not sign a long-term extension with them, causing them to bow out of the race for him. Now, reports are suggesting that they are interested in a reunion with Kevin Durant, who plays for the Suns.

The Suns initially shut down any potential trade talks for Durant. However, they are now open to fielding offers for the former MVP, as their respective trade talks for Jimmy Butler continue to stall. It appears the Warriors are set for a hectic 72 hours, as the NBA inches toward the end of the trade deadline.

The Warriors desperately need to improve their roster, as they currently sit 11th in the Western Conference with a 24-24 record. At this rate, they are likely to miss the NBA playoffs altogether.

Warriors Inquiring About Paul George

In the same interview with Pat McAfee, Shams Charania also revealed that the Warriors made inquiries with the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George. The Warriors are trying their best before the trade deadline to land a superstar, and George is a player the Warriors have wanted for quite some time.

“Paul George? They definitely called for him.”

The Golden State Warriors had agreed to a sign-and-trade deal with Paul George earlier this summer. However, the L.A. Clippers rejected the offer, not wanting to help improve a rival team in their division and conference. However, now that the 76ers haven’t been able to find success with George in the East, they might have another chance at landing him.

George has had a difficult season with the 76ers so far, averaging 17.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game while shooting 42.9% from the field, 36.5% from the three-point line, and 82.3% from the free-throw line. Perhaps a change of scenery and playing with a more consistent All-Star like Stephen Curry can help Paul George regain his form.
