LeBron James has once again set the NBA world ablaze, this time, not with a buzzer-beater or highlight-reel dunk, but with a cryptic new commercial that has fans questioning whether the King is finally ready to walk away. The short clip, posted on LeBron’s X account, shows him standing at a podium as a reporter asks,
“LeBron, are the retirement rumors true?” Just as James leans into the mic to answer, the screen cuts to black.
His caption?

Now entering his 23rd season, James has never been one to shy away from the spotlight, especially when it comes to controlling the narrative around his career.
ESPN’s Shams Charania hinted earlier this month that Year 23 for No. 23 could be his last. However, there’s been no official announcement, and James is widely expected to opt into his $52.6 million player option with the Lakers.
Still, the timing and tone of the ad are hard to ignore.
