The wins are piling up for Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, and in more ways than one. As he prepares for a promising season alongside LaMelo Ball, fresh off his wedding to Shannon Jackson, Edwards is making progress on a solution to a personal situation involving his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Ayesha Howard.
Since 2024, Edwards and Howard have raised a daughter named Aubri, who was at the center of the legal dispute. According to Howard, Edwards had been lying about his assets to avoid higher child support payments. She filed across jurisdictions in California and Georgia, demanding more money from the Timberwolves star in the name of their daughter. According to the latest update, her quest has failed, with California officials ruling in Edwards’ favor after Howard failed to show up for the trial and failed to prove why she needed more.
“Court papers obtained by the Daily Mail show Howard’s suit has been thrown out after she failed to provide any evidence of residency on the West Coast and did not show up for trial on the matter,” reported the Daily Mail. “As a result, LA Superior Court justice Anne Kiley has issued a ruling dubbing her ‘a vexatious litigant’ and banning her from filing further claims in the City of Angels. The court also found there is no evidence that Howard has spent enough time in Los Angeles to call the city home and that the baby was not conceived there.”
Not only was the California case dismissed, but she’s been banned from filing further claims in the city, giving full jurisdiction to Georgia. Even there, however, Howard is not getting her way. The Georgia courts have also sided with Edwards, and have even slashed the child support payments from $5,000 to $3,220.
“Howard was also threatened with contempt of court charges if she ignores the ruling and continues to make vexatious claims in LA,” the Daily Mail added. “On top of that, Fulton County justice Alice Benton handed down a final ruling earlier this month that slashed the $5,000-a-month payout Edwards had been forking over to just $3,220 – the maximum required in Georgia – and said Howard had done nothing to prove that more was needed.”
Edwards has already paid $110K in child support over just two years, and that doesn’t count any of his other three kids. Overall, with four children to four different baby mamas, the young star has a somewhat complicated sexual history compared to other stars like LeBron James or Stephen Curry. Some fans have even given him heat for his activities and his decision not to be an active father.
Nonetheless, Edwards is at least paying his dues financially. With a net worth of over $40 million, he’s happy to use his wealth to support his family, but he won’t allow himself to be taken advantage of. That’s why, with Howard clearly looking for every penny she can get, he’s been forced to play hardball, and it hasn’t always been pretty at times. But Edwards has always been a fighter, and this court case is quickly becoming one of his most resounding victories.
