Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards is embroiled in a legal battle with his ex-girlfriend and baby mama, Ayesha Howard, and the situation has just gotten a lot messier. According to In Touch, Howard submitted to court some text messages she alleges were sent by Edwards which included him telling her to get an abortion.

Howard claims to have met Edwards for the first time in 2022 and the two got into a relationship at some point later. She discovered she was pregnant in Jan. 2024 and relayed that information to the NBA star.
Edwards allegedly responded to that news with the message, “Get da abortion lol.” Howard then claimed she was not seeking hush money and did not intend to blackmail him. She also made it clear she wouldn’t be getting an abortion and wasn’t interested in getting into a back-and-forth with him.
In another alleged exchange, Howard asked Edwards if he hated her and he replied, “Because you bringing a child in the world that’s gone be without a father.” She stated she was not asking her to be a part of her life or their child’s to which Edwards allegedly said, “I won’t be in a child life I don’t want lol. You are sick.”
It would appear at some point between these alleged exchanges or after it, Edwards blocked Howard.
“Upon informing Anthony of the pregnancy, he blocked me on all communication platforms and made it clear, through text messages, that he did not want to be involved in the life of our child. His exact words were that our daughter would be a ‘fatherless child.’”
“From that point on, Anthony never reached out to me to inquire about my well-being, the well-being of our child, or any of the needs I had during my pregnancy. I did not receive any support—emotional, financial, or otherwise — throughout the entire duration of my pregnancy.”
In Oct. 2024, Howard gave birth to a daughter named Aubri Summers Howard. A couple of weeks after her birth, Edwards, who already shares a daughter with his girlfriend Shannon Jackson, filed a petition in Georgia asking for a DNA test. If it was indeed his child, he wanted the court to determine child support.
In response, Howard filed a petition of her own in California. She did not want the case to be heard in Georgia as she is based in California and the child was born there too. Howard also desired legal and physical custody, along with child support.
Edwards was not pleased by these actions. He claimed Howard was trying to establish jurisdiction in California as a means to get more child support. Edwards stated Howard’s business is registered in Georgia and that her son Jason (with rapper Lil Baby) lives in the state. He also pointed out that she had fought two legal battles in the past and both the cases were filed in Georgia.
It was in response to this, that Howard filed a declaration which included those text messages. A judge has yet to rule on her motion.
As for the DNA test, Howard claims Edwards did undertake one in Dec. 2024, which confirmed he is the father. What remains to be seen now is where will the case be heard and what will be the child support payment, as Edwards has allegedly made it clear he won’t be a part of Aubri’s life.
In case you’re getting a sense of deja vu here, this is not the first time that a woman has claimed Edwards asked her to get an abortion. Back in 2023, an Instagram model named Paige Jordae shared screenshots of chats where Edwards was urging her to get an abortion. He allegedly sent her $100,000 to get it done.
Edwards issued a statement later in which he claimed he made the comment in the heat of the moment. He added that all women should be supported and empowered to make their own decisions when it comes to their bodies.
Asking a woman to get an abortion is never a good look but if Edwards did indeed do so with Howard after making such a statement, it’s going to make him look all the worse. Time will tell the full story here.
