Nikola Jokic comes off as someone who doesn’t care about playing basketball but is still one of the best players on the planet.

The Joker proved that after leading the Denver Nuggets to their first NBA Championship in franchise history. But does Jokic’s life revolve around playing basketball? The 28-year-old revealed the answer in a recent interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews.

“I really don’t know,” Jokic said. “I think I can be much better. But you still need to sacrifice yourself. Basketball is not the main thing in my life. It’s something that I’m good at.”

Nikola Jokic is definitely good at playing basketball. At 28, he has already won one NBA Championship, one NBA Finals MVP, and two regular-season MVPs.

Jokic finished the 2023 NBA Finals with 30.2 PPG, 14.0 RPG, and 7.2 APG. While basketball may not be the main thing in his life, he’s certainly on the path to go down as one of the best players to ever play in the NBA.

Nikola Jokic Lost His NBA Finals Trophy

There’s a fine line between basketball not being the main focus in Jokic’s life and him not caring about it. The Joker seems to be shifting more toward the latter.

Most players love to flaunt accolades such as the NBA Finals MVP trophy. But the Denver Nuggets superstar is not one of them. In fact, he recently revealed that he has already lost the trophy.

“I really don’t know. I left it in Sparky’s (Nuggets equipment manager) room and it’s not there anymore. So I don’t know.”

While Jokic may have lost the trophy, the Nuggets’ equipment came to his rescue. According to Malika Andrews, Sparky has found the trophy and is keeping it ready for the Nuggets’ championship parade on Thursday.

It’s good to know that Jokic won’t be attending the championship parade without his NBA Finals MVP trophy. Otherwise, it could have been a very awkward parade.
