Nikola Jokic is once again in the conversation to be named MVP of the NBA. He has enjoyed another statistically brilliant season and this time his Denver Nuggets are doing well too, entering the playoffs as the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
The MVP debate has been heated again, yet Nikola Jokic has made it quite clear that he couldn’t be bothered about it. There are analysts who have criticized him and even tried to start a few narratives, but Jokic is seemingly unbothered.
Speaking about his outspoken haters like Kendrick Perkins, Jokic had an incredibly calm response. As per the Denver Post, he said, “I don’t really listen to those people.”

There are some pundits in the basketball world that have made their name by sharing g outrageous opinions or talking down on certain players. Skip Bayless is the most perfect example of this, he is famous for saying some truly wild stuff and for regularly criticizing LeBron James.
Nikola Jokic is a man that doesn’t quite enjoy the limelight. There are players who love the fame associated with being good at basketball, but the accolades and associated attention mean nothing to Jokic. He doesn’t even want to win another MVP, so it makes sense why he would not want to be discussed, either.
Nikola Jokic Doesn’t Want To Win MVP Again
Amassing individual awards is one way for players to grow their own image and influence their legacy and impact on the game. So while there are those desperately fighting to be named the MVP, Jokic has come out and said the exact opposite. In an interview, he suggested that he wanted to be left out of the conversation entirely this year.
Nikola Jokic: “It’s fine. I can’t anymore. Now when they put me in conversation…”
Reporter: “Larry Bird won it 3 times in a row.”
Nikola Jokic: “Let it stay like that. Let him enjoy. I can’t anymore.”
There is no doubt that Kendrick Perkins will respond to this, he will probably do so in somewhat of an aggressive manner as well. He has already gotten into a beef with Draymond Green, and getting a rise out of big players is why media members say some of the things they say. It’s unlikely that it’ll become a drawn-out argument, though.
