Nikola Jokic Made It To Serbia In Time To Watch His Horse Race

Nikola Jokic was worried about making it to Serbia in time to watch his horses race, but a video shows that he got there.

Nikola Jokic had the time of his life in the past week after the Denver Nuggets won the NBA championship thanks to a Game 5 victory last Monday. 

Right after the game, Jokic seemed dismayed to find out that he would be expected to stay in Denver till at least Thursday for the parade. This was thanks to him wanting to attend horse racing back home in Serbia. But despite staying back and even heading to Las Vegas with the team, Jokic made it back in time for his horse race. 

Jokic got a big round of applause and some appreciation thanks to his recent exploits, and he seemed happy to be back watching his horses. While he did backtrack on his initial sentiment of being upset at having to stay back, there is no denying that Jokic still prefers being home and doing his favorite things surrounded by his family and his horses more than anything else. 

Nikola Jokic averaged 30 points and 14 rebounds per game in the NBA Finals, dominating as very few players have in the game’s history. While anyone else would stay back and milk that moment, Jokic stayed true to himself. The only question is whether he got Josh Kroenke to lend him a private plane as he said he might

But obviously, what matters more is what the people he grew up around in his hometown have to say. And they showed how proud they are of him by putting up a special billboard welcoming him home

Denver Nuggets fans will always love Jokic for being pivotal in bringing the franchise their first-ever championship, so he essentially has two hometowns that are incredibly proud of him. There is a mural of Jokic in Denver too that went up during this special playoff run. 

Jokic now has some time to relax at home after a long season before he starts preparing to play some more basketball. The FIBA Basketball World Cup begins late in August and Serbia has qualified. This will be another big challenge for Jokic and it would do a lot for his legacy if he can lead his country to a trophy as well.
