Kyle Kuzma will be one of the hottest free agents in the 2023 NBA offseason. After spending the last two seasons with the Washington Wizards, Kuzma is ready to find a new challenge and try his luck with a different team.
After reviving his career in D.C., the forward will try to prove he’s ready to take a bigger role on a better team after being criticized upon his exit from the Los Angeles Lakers. According to Jake Weinbach, Kuzma is expected to decline his player option and see what the market offers, with a Lakers reunion in the picture.
“Kyle Kuzma is expected to decline his $13.0 million player option with the Wizards and become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Potential suitors for Kuzma could include the Pacers, Rockets, Spurs, Kings, and Jazz. A reunion with the Lakers is also a looming possibility.”

This could be a full-circle moment for Kuz, who left the Lakers in 2021 as a part of the blockbuster trade that sent Russell Westbrook to Los Angeles. It seems like he’s been trying to return to the team and redeem himself, but the Lakers aren’t in the position to offer him a big deal.
The Purple and Gold have been mentioned in rumors suggesting they can match $100 million offers for Austin Reaves, but it’s not like they’d be willing to do the same for Kuzma.
The player has been linked with the Phoenix Suns recently too, so it’s easy to see that he won’t miss suitors in free agency.
Kyle Kuzma Wanted A $20 Million Contract In Free Agency
During the season, reports surfaced claiming that Kuzma wanted at least $20 million annually in his next deal. After posting 21.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 64 games this season, he could get that big deal.
It’s unclear what team will try to make a move for him, but according to Weinbach, he won’t miss suitors. The Lakers have different plans for this summer, as they don’t plan to pursue high-profile names. Kuzma doesn’t necessarily fit that description, which could make things hard for a reunion with the Purple and Gold.
