Kyle Kuzma was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 2017 and spent four seasons with the franchise. He won a title with them in 2020 before being traded to the Washington Wizards in 2021 as part of the package for Russell Westbrook.

Kuzma still has a lot of love for his former team, though, and when the Lakers took on the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1 of their first-round series, he cheered them on.

Kuzma stated last year that it is hard for him to watch the Lakers struggle and added that he regularly keeps in touch with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Lakers were also reportedly interested in bringing him back via trade, but ultimately no deal was made. He is a free agent this summer, but it is unlikely the Lakers will be able to afford him, as he is coming off a season where he averaged 21.2 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 3.7 APG.

So, Kuzma will have to settle with rooting for his old team, and he is loving what he is seeing at the moment. As he tweeted, the Lakers put on a masterclass in the fourth quarter, and they won it 32-22. They closed out the quarter on a 15-0 run, as the Grizzlies didn’t score a point in the final three minutes of the game.

Kyle Kuzma Thinks The Lakers Can Get To The NBA Finals

After the Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in the play-in game, Kuzma tweeted that he thinks they can get to the NBA Finals. It might have seemed a bit outlandish at the time, but getting this win against the Grizzlies shows that this team can potentially make a deep run in these playoffs.

Charles Barkley went as far as to say that the Lakers have the easiest path to the Conference Finals as they avoided the Phoenix Suns and the Denver Nuggets. If they do get that far, then you would have to give them a shot at making the NBA Finals, no matter who the opponent is. When the Lakers started this season 2-10, no one would have thought there would be these conversations surrounding this team, and it just shows how much progress they’ve made.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
