The Denver Nuggets finally won their first championship in franchise history by beating the Miami Heat in five games in the 2023 NBA Finals. Everyone in the city is really looking forward to the parade except for Nikola Jokic, who stated that he has to go home when he was told the parade was going to be on Thursday.

If he has to attend the parade, then Jokic hilariously said he is going to ask owner Josh Kroenke to get him a plane, so he can get back to Serbia in time for his horse racing on Sunday.

“Yes, I need to go home,” Jokic said. “On Sundays, I have my horse racing… I don’t know how I’m going to arrive. … I’m gonna ask Josh to give me a plane… I put him under pressure, I don’t feel bad at all.”

Kroenke certainly won’t have any problem arranging the team plane for the Joker to fly home after how well he has played in these playoffs. The Serbian averaged 30.0 PPG, 13.5 RPG, 9.5 APG, 1.1 SPG, and 1.0 BPG over 20 games in what was one of the most dominant postseason runs we have seen in a while.

There were some pretty good big men who stood in Jokic’s way to the title, from Rudy Gobert to Deandre Ayton to Anthony Davis and finally Bam Adebayo, but he got the better of all of them. Jokic is now widely regarded as the best player in the world, but that isn’t something he’s probably all that concerned about, with his attention being on his horses.

Nikola Jokic’s Love For Horses

Prior to Game 5, Jokic was asked about getting a horse if he wins the title and he hilariously stated he’d get one even if they don’t win. He already owns more than a half dozen of them but clearly wants even more.

He is really into horse racing too, revealing after the Conference Semifinals that he is going to spend some of his time watching his friend race horses. Jokic was also watching horse races before practice and with the season now finally in the books, he’ll have all the time in the world to watch as many of them as he wants.
