Patrick Beverley honestly thinks the Bulls could have been a top-4 team in the Eastern Conference if he had played the entire season with them.

The Chicago Bulls had a tenacious season that ended when the Miami Heat knocked them out of the play-in tournament.

But was the true ceiling of the Bulls? According to Patrick Beverley, that’s not the case. In a recent episode of ‘The Pat Bev Podcast,’ the veteran guard said if the Bulls had added him to the team earlier, they could have secured a top-four finish in the Eastern Conference.

“I honestly think If I’m there from the beginning of the years, I think we’re a fourth or fifth seed,’ Beverley said. “When I was there, we lost three games at the buzzer. I’ve understood this team. Like how to be me, but also get the best out of people.”

The Bulls added Patrick Beverley from the buyout market after the NBA trade deadline. While Pat Bev didn’t average eye-popping numbers, he let his defense do all the talking. He averaged 5.8 PPG, 4.9 RPG, and 3.5 APG.

But after adding Beverley to the team, the Bulls became a top-five defense in the Eastern Conference. On top of that, the Bulls achieved a 14-9 record after adding Beverley to the roster.

The Chicago Bulls Won’t Bring Back Patrick Beverley

Considering the impact that Beverley had on the Bulls, one would assume the organization would like to re-sign the veteran point guard.

But as reported by Joe Crowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bulls have placed their trust in Coby White to handle the starting point guard duties.

“That still leaves a huge hole at point guard, especially with Beverley likely elsewhere. No problem. White showed enough for the organization to believe in him taking the starting reins, but that comes at a price. White is a restricted free agent, and the Bulls will let the market set a price for him, likely matching it once it does.”

In addition, there’s also the issue of Beverley seeking a bigger contract this summer. Pat Bev is reportedly looking to make at least $13 to $15 million per year on the next contract.

Beverley is still a decent player, but he is all set to turn 35 years old in July. Keep that in mind, the asking price which he has set seems to be too much for a veteran guard.
