The Phoenix Suns are in a complex position entering the 2023 NBA free agency, but the team is confident they can assemble a solid team to compete for the 2024 NBA championship.

After several weeks of speculation about his future, Deandre Ayton is staying with the Suns, as the team has no intention to move him away.

“Phoenix Suns are moving forward with the plan of keeping Deandre Ayton to play alongside Devin Booker, Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, league sources tell,” Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report writes.

The Bradley Beal trade is official now, and the Suns will have a big chunk of their payroll compromised by four players. Beal, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton will get $162.9 million combined this next season, putting the team in a complicated position.

Still, this doesn’t appear to be a problem for Mat Ishbia and co. Besides the Big Four, Cam Payne is the only player under contract with the Suns. They’ll be paying $169.4 million to five players, which gives them little space to maneuver.

The Suns now they must win soon or all these moves will be considered a total failure. They have four great players on the roster and a championship coach in Frank Vogel. It’s not or never for this team.

Ayton reportedly has a good relationship with Vogel, who wants to coach him no matter what. Things can get very interesting for this team, but time will tell if they can get the job done.

The Suns Will Have A Lot Of Work To Do To Complete The Roster

Meanwhile, the team’s front office will have to work its magic to find the right pieces for these players. This will be Kevin Durant’s fifth superteam in the NBA, and he must bring that ring home next year.

Ayton was linked with a series of teams around the league, including the Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics and even the Chicago Bulls. All the rumors have been shut down, as he’s set to stay in Phoenix and show a better face than he did during the 2023 NBA playoffs.
