Giannis Antetokounmpo’s epic “failure speech” that went viral earned him lavish praise for Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

Per Bleacher Report, “What Antetokounmpo said was fantastic…” Ancelotti said. “Failure is when you don’t try to do something as well as you can. When you try to do your best, you have a clear conscience, and that’s never a failure, not just in sport but in life.”

Giannis was initially frustrated when he was asked whether the Bucks’ season was a failure. And after his initial rant, he referenced Michael Jordan’s run with the Chicago Bulls.

“It’s not a failure, it’s steps to success,” the forward said. “There are always steps to it. Michael Jordan played for 15 years and won six championships. The other nine years were a failure?… There’s no failure in sports. There are good days, bad days. Some days you are able to be successful, some days you’re not. … That’s what sports is about. You don’t always win.”

And that saw some praise coming from Ancelotti. On the football front, Real Madrid is 11 points behind La Liga leader FC Barcelona in second place.

Michael Jordan Had A Similar Response To Giannis Antetokounmpo’s After Losing To The Magic In 1995

He may have used Jordan as a massive frame of reference, but it appears that the latter had a similar reaction to that of the Bucks star after losing to the Orlando Magic in 1995.

“I came back with a dream. A dream of winning. Was that unrealistic? Maybe, if you look at it right now. But when I came back? No,” Jordan said. “I’m very disappointed I wasn’t able to contribute in the way that I have in the past. But that just drives me to be able to contribute as I did in the past.”

It’s only logical that Giannis reacted the way he did, and in it, he showed resilience and great maturity for a player of his age. The Bucks were thoroughly outplayed by the Miami Heat, but kudos to the 28-year-old for displaying his attitude and even later apologizing to the journalist for his outburst. Safe to say, the generational superstar, as he’s touted, is well on his path to exceeding expectations.
