In a guest appearance on ‘The Stephen A. Smith Show,’ this week, LeBron James‘ agent, Rich Paul, got real on what advice he’d give this client about leaving the Los Angeles Lakers this summer. He strongly warned against the idea, insisting that it would be a lose-lose situation for James and his NBA legacy.

“At this point of your career, where’s the win? Because if you go somewhere, and you fall short, then I can count 50 losses,” said Paul. “So what’s the value in that? Oftentimes, people get caught up in making impulsive decisions and I have a lot of friends who are not here today because they made some costly decisions. So I think we spend a lot of time trying to validate the opinions of people who aren’t even validated. So for me, it’s just staying in the moment and understanding that the grass ain’t always greener.”

Rumors have been flying for weeks about LeBron’s shaky future with the Lakers. With a player option attached to the final year of his deal, the King can become a free agent as early as this summer and there have been rumblings that he could leave to join the Golden State Warriors instead. The noise got so loud that Rich Paul had to come out and deny any plans to leave, and it put the whispers to bed once and for all

But with the Lakers sitting in a position of vulnerability in the standings, currently 9th in the West, they face an uphill climb to the NBA Finals and are facing major doubts about the potential to improve their odds this summer. No matter how their season ends, things are sure to get interesting this offseason with so much of their future on the line.

Is LeBron James Frustrated With The Lakers?

At this point, LeBron James is showing nothing but loyalty to the Lakers as he and his agent work to combat any rumors of the contrary. Even so, it doesn’t change the fact that LeBron has some serious issues with the franchise right now. Since his arrival, the team has had an up-and-down performance, ranging from missing the playoffs entirely to winning the NBA championship.

Since the 2020 bubble, the Lakers haven’t done much of anything at all besides their miracle run to the Conference Finals last year, which ended in a sweep at the hands of the Nuggets. And now, at 39 years old, LeBron has been sending signs that his patience is wearing thin.

Just last month, LeBron went viral for posting a cryptic hourglass emoji, which he has yet to explain. Last week, it was revealed that James was “frustrated” with the front office over their lack of trades. Just recently, it was reported that the Golden State Warriors tried to trade for James, going so far as to call his agent to try and convince him at the last second.

In the end, every attempt to pull LeBron out of Los Angeles has failed, and it should be noted that he specifically chose to move out there to end his basketball career. By all accounts, LeBron isn’t going anywhere anytime soon but as long as the possibility of an exit exists, it can never be ignored in the eyes of the NBA community.
