No team in NBA history has ever made a comeback after going down 0-3 in the playoffs. This year, the Boston Celtics have a chance to make history by eliminating the Miami Heat.

After losing the first three games of the series, the Celtics have won back-to-back matchups and forced a Game 6 in the Eastern Conference Finals. Former NBA player turned analyst Richard Jefferson believes that the Celtics have what it takes to become the first team in NBA history to win a playoff series after trailing 3-0.

“It’s going to be Boston. Boston is going to be the first team to come back [from 0-3].

If history’s any indication, the Celtics won’t be able to make a comeback in the series. After all, the teams that have gone down 0-3 in the playoffs have a combined 0-150 record in such situations.

However, the reason why Jefferson probably believes in the Celtics is due to the fact that the team is on a two-game winning streak and has all the momentum in the world with them.

Jimmy Butler Guaranteed A Game 6 Win For The Heat

The Miami Heat still hold a 3-2 lead in the Eastern Conference Finals. So, there is still no reason for the team to start panicking.

But if they end up losing Game 6, it would level the series, and the Celtics may complete a historic comeback in the postseason. Jimmy Butler is aware of it and guaranteed that the Heat will wrap things up in the sixth game of the series.

“We just got to play better, start the games off better. Make it more difficult for them, they’re in a rhythm since the beginning of the game, but we’re always going to stay positive, knowing that we can, and we will win this series. We’ll just have to close it out at home.”

Game 6 will take place in Miami, so the Heat will have immense support from their fanbase.

Jimmy Butler will need to step up after an underwhelming performance in Game 5. He recorded just 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in the blowout loss.
