Russell Westbrook and the Los Angeles Clippers caused a huge upset by defeating the Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of the playoffs.

Westbrook struggled to score from the floor, but dominated the board as he pulled down 11 rebounds. Brodie talked about his performance in the postgame conference and even hailed himself as the league’s best rebounder.

“It is. It’s timing. It’s the will to win. Be able to make plays. At this position, humbly speaking, nobody’s a better rebounder than me.”

Reporter: "When it comes to a guy your size to hit the glass, there's athleticism & energy, but is it heart?"

Westbrook: "It is. It's timing. It's the will to win. Be able to make plays. At this position, humbly speaking, nobody's a better rebounder than me."

Just like any other skill in the NBA, pulling down rebounds consistently takes a lot of practice. Throughout his career, Russell Westbrook has perfected that skill and is now one of the top rebounders in the league.

For the 2022-23 NBA season, Westbrook may have averaged 5.8 RPG, but he can easily take that number to double-digits come playoff time. It was proven after the Clippers’ sensational win over the Suns.

Russell Westbrook Isn’t Too Happy After Clippers’ Game 1 Win

The Los Angeles Clippers are the underdogs against the Phoenix Suns superteam in the opening round of the 2023 playoffs.

Winning Game 1 of the series is certainly a morale booster for the organization. But at the same time, the Clippers cannot take their foot off the pedal after taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

Russell Westbrook firmly believes that, and his reaction after the 115-110 win over the Suns is the perfect example of it.

“Good win, locked up Game 1. Have to come back and do the same in Game 2. Serious. We ain’t do nothing yet, we ain’t do nothing.”

The Clippers still need to defeat the Suns three more times to advance to the postseason. It will not be an easy task by any means.

After all, the Suns have the dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, who can still lead the team to a comeback over the next six games in the series.
