The Los Angeles Lakers have recently been eliminated from contention for the playoffs, and it is clear that this year has been a disappointment for them. The star trio of Russell Westbrook, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis has not worked as well as intended.

Despite the struggles, it seems as though Russell Westbrook still wants to return to the Los Angeles Lakers. Recently, Russell Westbrook commented on running things back with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, and he stated that his coming back is “the plan”.

That’s the plan. But nothing is promised. You kind of have to take it one day at a time each day. Like I’ve said all season long, you’ve got to play the cards you’re dealt. Yes, we want to be able to see what htat looks like, what that entails over the course of an 82-game season, but we’re not sure if that’s guaranteed either. So I just hope we get the chance to be able to do something.

There is no doubt that Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, and LeBron James are all future Hall of Fame players. They have a lot of talent between them, and all three have accomplished a lot in the league. With that being said, the fit between them hasn’t been the best this year. LeBron James and Russell Westbrook are both ball-dominant playmakers who need the ball.

With that being said, it’s possible that the Los Angeles Lakers’ lack of assets and financial flexibility means that they’ll run it back with the same three stars next season. The Los Angeles Lakers will have more time to develop chemistry and gel with one another, and perhaps that can lead to better results. Anthony Davis has previously claimed that the team didn’t get to reach its potential, so perhaps running it back could put them closer to achieving it.
