Shaquille O’Neal had a bold take on who would win between the 1990s and 2000s MVPs, and unsurprisingly, it was the latter featuring the former Los Angeles Lakers big man himself.

The center believed that his team would win. “4 – 2 in favor of my team, yup I said it!” he tweeted.

The 90s MVP five had Magic Johnson (PG), Michael Jordan (SG), Charles Barkley (SF). Karl Malone (PF), and Hakeem Olajuwon (C).

The 200s MVP side saw Allen Iverson (PG), Kobe Bryant (SG), LeBron James (SF), Tim Duncan (PF), and Shaq (C).

Earlier, our very own Nick Mac had done a similar comparison feature breaking down a position vs. position matchup of the aforementioned players. Here’s the end result:

1990s MVPs vs. 2000s MVPs: 4-3

Finals MVP: Michael Jordan

Honestly, this would be one of the series for the ages, with the players all in their prime. Picking a winner would be honestly a toughie, but like Mac. we’d go 4-3 in favor of the 90s squad.

Shaquille O’Neal Believes He Could Have Pipped A Prime Wilt Chamberlain

Like how Shaq was supremely confident of his 2000s MVP team bagging the series against a string of elite players, he also had immense self-confidence in himself to pip a prime Wilt Chamberlain.

“I hate when you ask the question, and you can’t ask sub-questions,” O’Neal said on the Fluent And Chill Show when asked who would a 1 vs. 1 between the two.

“For example, what era are we playing in? And then, like, I’m looking at Wilt’s highlights, and I’m not impressed. I was a lot more hip-hop and had a lot more style. I was the first dude to bring it up off a rebound through a foul… Young Wilt, Young Shaq, I’m going with Young Shaq.”

Also looking at it from Chamberlain’s perspective, the Sixers star had a solid Hollywood comparison. “Yeah, we’re both terrible foul shooters,” Chamberlain once said. “But Shaquille and I are like comparing me with Clark Gable. In this case, I am Clark Gable and he is me.”

Maybe in another dimension, Shaq vs. Chamberlain would have made for an epic battle of the centers.
