As arguably, the greatest player in NBA history, LeBron James has no shortage of haters and naysayers. But out of all the LeBron-doubters, it’s Skip Bayless who stands out as the most determined to undermine King James’ legacy.

But on Saturday, Mr. Bayless made waves after sending out a strange tweet in complete contradiction to his beliefs.

I've finally decided LeBron James is the GOAT.

— Skip Bayless (@RealSkipBayless) April 1, 2023

After a look at the calendar, it didn’t take fans very long to catch on to what was going on. Obviously, it’s an April Fools’ joke from Bayless that he will no doubt explain at some point in the near future.

Unfortunately for James, he hasn’t gained a new fan today. But considering the Lakers star has never mentioned or alluded to Skip publicly, it’s unlikely he cares very much anyway.

Skip Has A Long History Of Criticizing LeBron

As it stands, Bayless is one of LeBron’s most committed and long-standing critics, and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon. As for why the FOX Sports star has taken such an extreme interest in James, it likely has to do with his love for Michael Jordan.

“I still believe, if LeBron had dared to approach Michael after the game, kid him about being old, I believe Michael will say, ‘OK, how about you and I, let’s go out there once the arena has emptied. Let’s go,” said Skip. “You and I. One-on-one. Right here, right now’. Could Michael hold up? Going on 60 against LeBron at 37? LeBron’s showing his age. He can’t carry a team anymore. My head says no. Michael couldn’t hold up against LeBron in a one-on-one right now… I still believe that Michael Jeffrey Jordan, would even now, figure a way to beat LeBron just on sheer killer will. I don’t think LeBron has it. Michael just spits it.”

The answer to the GOAT question will always be subjective, but there is no doubt that LeBron is a part of the conversation, at the very least. As a 4x champion, 19x All-Star, and 4x MVP, LeBron has accomplished more in one career than entire teams have over decades of existence.

Maybe one day, Skip will finally recognize that and give LeBron the props he ultimately deserves. But, until then, Skip is going to keep defending his position to anybody that will listen.
