Stephen Curry’s influence on the game of basketball is there for everyone to see. His outside shooting has revolutionized the game and you’ll even find plenty of kids in the park who put up shots from way downtown to be like him.

But who did Curry model his game after? Well, he answered that question during a recent appearance on “Hot Ones”.

“The model was Steve Nash and Reggie Miller,” Curry said. “You see this tear coming out my left eye? I get real emotional talking about these two legends that were such great influences on my game.

“Reggie, because he was a master at creating space without the ball,” Curry said. “Find a way to get separation to go out and get a pass and quick release. I never could emulate his form because he does it like this when he shoots. You never teach that. But the movement without the ball. So I try to blend those two guys together.”

Curry had time for some jokes here and he also mentioned that both he and his brother copied Alonzo Mourning’s free-throw routine when they were playing in AAU.

It is clear that Nash and Miller had a huge influence on Curry. They really paved the way for a player like him and he then went on to surpass both of them. Steph has a lot of respect for these two and recently picked them as the ringless players he would give one of his rings to as well.

Steve Kerr Said Stephen Curry Reminded The Suns Of Steve Nash

While Stephen Curry and Steve Kerr would link up on the Golden State Warriors when the latter became the head coach in 2014, it could have happened a lot sooner. Kerr was president of basketball operations and general manager for the Phoenix Suns when Curry came into the league in 2009.

Kerr recently revealed Curry reminded the team of Nash and they thought he had a chance to become a really good player in the NBA. Kerr and the Suns attempted to trade up in the draft to land him, but the Warriors decided against it and the rest is history.
