  • Stephen Curry admitted that he wants to “back it up every year”
  • The point guard truly loves to play basketball
  • Curry feels like he has a lot left in the tank

Point guard Stephen Curry is one of the best superstars in the league today, and there’s no doubt that he has accomplished pretty much everything there is to accomplish in the game on an individual and team level. He has won two MVP awards, four championships, and one Finals MVP. Curry has done it all with the Golden State Warriors.

With that being said, Stephen Curry still has a chip on his shoulder going into every season. Curry stated that he has a “healthy insecurity” in the sense that he feels the need to “back it up every year”.

“I had to really earn everything because I was a late bloomer physically…with all the accomplishments in the league, there is a healthy insecurity of having to back it up every year…being confident that I still have a lot more to accomplish out there, and to be honest with you I just love playing basketball…that helps embrace the grind…that healthy insecurity is real because I have out-kicked my coverage in terms of dreams I’ve imagined in this game and still feel like I got a lot more left in the tank.”

There is no doubt that this is a good mentality to have, as it keeps Stephen Curry hungry to achieve more in his career. It is clear that as long as he’s a superstar, the Warriors will be contenders, and Curry is clearly motivated to keep being the best version of himself.

This past season, Stephen Curry averaged 29.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. Hopefully, we see Curry win another championship in the future, and we’ll see what happens next season.

Stephen Curry Knows That He’ll Have To Retire At Some Point

Even though Stephen Curry comes into every season with a chip on his shoulder, he does understand that at some point, he’ll stop playing. In fact, Curry gave an honest take on retirement previously, claiming that “the ball has to stop bouncing at some point”.

The day that Stephen Curry retires will be a sad one for a lot of NBA fans. He has changed the very fabric of the game, ushering in the 3PT revolution, and has given us so many incredible moments. Hopefully, we continue to see him play at a high-level next season, and we’ll see just how long he has left.
