Retired NBA player Stephen Jackson has made waves with his recent comments regarding Ja Morant’s controversy.

Ja Morant was suspended for 8 games after he flashed a gun on Instagram, and attended counseling during that time. Jackson, who played in the NBA for 14 seasons, stated recently that Morant did not need counseling.

“Check this out. I hate the fact that they made Ja feel like he need to go talk to somebody on how to deal with his stress and ups and downs, right,” Jackson said. “When I got to the… they tried to make me talk to somebody. The lady was cool, the lady was super cool, but I didn’t talk to her about my problems.

“I damn sure didn’t confide in her. And say nothing about what I had going on. Nothing. Man, ain’t nothing wrong with you bro, you made a bad decision. You f**ked up, deal with it. But you don’t need to talk to nobody, bruh. Because whoever you talk to ain’t going to relate to whatever you got going on.

“They just somebody that’s sitting there, that’s going to give you an opinion, about what they think you did. They ain’t got no experience. Ain’t nothing wrong with you Ja, just get back to playing basketball. F**k everybody.”

This advice from Jackson wasn’t received well by a lot of NBA fans. Many pointed out the importance of mental health services in the league, particularly given the high-pressure environment in which players operate.

In the past year, several high-profile players have spoken out about their struggles with mental health, including Kevin Love and DeMar DeRozan. Even considering that Ja Morant’s situation is different from theirs, his getting counseling is a step toward him realizing that he did make some mistakes.

Ja Morant Has Apologized For His Mistakes And Taken Responsibility

Some people thought Ja Morant had gone to counseling to deal with problems related to alcohol consumption. However, he denied that, revealing that it was more about learning to manage the stress he feels in his day-to-day life. Furthermore, Ja Morant has taken responsibility for his recent actions

He has acknowledged that his actions have caused trouble for others in his life and that he will move forward by being more responsible and smart about the way he carries himself. Ja is willing to come off the bench for the Memphis Grizzlies as he moves toward making a return to the court, and the hope is that all future news will be about his exceptional basketball ability.
