Stephen Jackson had the ultimate compliment to Sacramento Kings’ star Jason Williams calling him “the best of both worlds.”

“One thousand people in your hometown, everybody can probably tell me about the birth of ‘White Chocolate’ in your hometown,” Jackson said on All the Smoke.

To which Williams answered: “Where I came from, White folks live right here, then high school, and the Black folks, and I spent most of my time on the other side,” drawing huge laughs from the crowd, Matt Barnes and Jackson.

“Hence the name,” Jackson opined, before adding, “A compliment I can give to you is that you are the best of both worlds. If we had to find somebody who had to come from both cultures that represented the right way, it would be you.”

Williams received some massive compliments from former players prior to Jackson’s lavish praise. Earlier, Tracy McGrady gave him flowers, saying he was the point guard the former wanted to challenge in the NBA.

“It’s not too many guys that I played against when we switch a pick and roll and I want to guard. This dude right here would do something so creative to embarrass you out there like I didn’t like to guard him in-game.”

Williams was a bit of the journeyman in the league, playing for the Kings and following it up with stints with Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, and the Orlando Magic, before returning to Memphis again. His career numbers see him average 10.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. At the end of his illustrious stint with the Heat, he was named in Miami’s list of their 25 players of all time.

Jason Williams Was Candid About His Move From The Sacramento Kings

On the same podcast, Williams was honest about his departure from Sacramento and said the team got better once he was traded.

“It sucked at first because I didn’t really want to leave Sacramento,” he said. “But shoutout to Bibby and the Kings. They got better when they got rid of me. As a team, in my eyes, what I know about basketball… That team got better when they got rid of me. They had a better chance of beating the Lakers with Bibby, just the way he played.”

It takes a lot to admit that a team could get better once the person, no matter how brilliant a player he/she was, and for that, Williams deserves respect. It’s no wonder that Jackson regarded him highly with the rich compliment.
