The Golden State Warriors find themselves in a 2-1 hole heading into Game 4 against the Los Angeles Lakers on the road on Monday.

While many would term this as a must-win game for Golden State, their head coach Steve Kerr isn’t viewing it as one.

“You know my feelings on that expression,” Kerr said. “Must-win is when the other team has three wins and if you lose you’re done, that’s a must-win. I have faith that our team can win any series as long as we have more games to play. We are in the same situation we were in a year ago in Boston in the Finals, down 2-1 on the road. We know what we have to do, to get the job done and that’s the plan.”

While technically, this isn’t a must-win, it is hard to see it in any other way. Even for how great the Warriors and Stephen Curry are, it is highly unlikely they are able to overturn a 3-1 deficit against a team led by LeBron James. They need to get a win here and just like back in the NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics, it could be the turning point of the series, as the Celtics, just like the Lakers now, looked like the much better team up to that point.

Steve Kerr Isn’t Blaming The Officials For Losing Game 3

The refereeing has been one of the biggest talking points of this series, and Draymond Green admitted that it was frustrating in Game 3. Kerr, however, isn’t blaming the loss on the officials.

“We didn’t lose the game because of the officials,” Kerr said. “So, there’s no point in whining about anything. There were definitely calls that we didn’t like but every game both coaches can say that. This is not about anything other than our performance.”

The Lakers have had a huge advantage in terms of free throws in this series, with 83 attempts to just 39 for the Warriors. Game 3 saw the Lakers shoot 37 free throws while the Warriors shot 17. This will continue to be a theme in this series, as the Lakers attack the basket with greater regularity than the Warriors. Golden State will have to rely on their threes falling at a great clip if they are to turn things around and they are capable of getting crazy hot from beyond the arc.
