Serbia was proud of their hometown hero winning the NBA championship, and they decided to honor Nikola Jokic by showing him and his MVP award on their tallest building, The Belgrade Tower.

The building looked stellar in the dusk as the lights came on with Jokic adorning the walls of the tower. You can watch an aerial view of the tower lighting up.

Jokic led the Nuggets to their maiden NBA title after pipping the Miami Heart 4-1. They won Game 5 to clinch the series and the two-time MVP also was awarded the Finals MVP.

The Serbian has been remarkable this season for the Nuggets. The regular season saw him average 24.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 9.8 assists. He took it to the next level in the playoffs with 30.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 9.8 assists.

In the process, he became the first player in NBA history to lead in the points, rebounds, and assists in the playoffs. Jokic had 600 points, 269 rebounds, and 190 assists.

Nikola Jokic Had An Honest Message For His Fans After Winning The NBA Championship

It’s always about the hustle, the sweat, and the hard work — things that Jokic stressed that helped Denver win the championship. He added that there are no shortcuts, an age-old adage.

“If you want to be successful, you need to be bad, then you need to be good. Then when you’re good, you need to fail. Then when you fail, you’re going to figure it out… There are no shortcuts. It’s a journey.”

Now, the focus will be solely on Jokic as the Nuggets begin their preparation for the upcoming season. While they have the necessary ammo to defend their title, only time will tell if the Serbian can indeed take them to greater heights.
