The Boston Celtics were super active ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft. The 17-time NBA champions engaged in a three-team trade to acquire Kristaps Porzingis from the Washington Wizards and two first-round picks from Memphis Grizzlies while they sent out Marcus Smart.

Following the trade, the new-look potential starting lineup of the Celtics looks dangerous. Here’s a quick look at what their starting lineup for the 2023-24 NBA season could look like:

G: Malcolm Brogdon

G: Jaylen Brown

F: Jayson Tatum

F: Kristaps Porzingis

C: Robert Williams III

The C’s have managed to put together a lineup that is extremely tall in each position. Brogdon (6’5″), Brown (6’6″), Tatum (6’8″), Porzingis (7’3″), and Williams (6’9″) are an elite defensive combination. On top of that, they will have the likes of Derrick White, Al Horford, and Blake Griffin coming off the bench.

Head coach Joe Mazzulla will most likely prefer running the zone defense against opponents to fully utilize the height of his players. On top of that, the Celtics have an elite offense. Tatum, Brown, and Porzingis averaged 30.1 PPG, 26.6 PPG, and 23.2 PPG, respectively, during the 2022-23 NBA season.

All things considered, the Celtics look like the favorite to not only reach the 2024 NBA Finals but also win championship no. 18 next season.

Jaylen Brown Expected To Sign Supermax Contract And Stay With The Celtics

The Boston Celtics’ Big 3 of Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis could fall apart even before playing a single game together if Brown demands a trade this offseason.

After earning All-NBA honors last season, Brown is eligible to sign a five-year $295 million supermax contract extension this summer. Over the last few months, many have advised the Celtics not to go ahead with the supermax extension. But according to a recent report, the C’s are expected to hand Brown the mega contract extension.

Brown averaged 26.6 PPG, 6.9 RPG, and 3.5 APG over 67 games last season. He also earned the second NBA All-Star selection of his career alongside the All-NBA honors. But can Brown elevate his game to the next level and help the Celtics in winning the NBA Championship? We will find out over the course of the next season.
