The Golden State Warriors made one of the most insane moves in NBA history when they signed Kevin Durant and added him to a 73-9 team. No team felt the impact of this more than their title rivals, the Cleveland Cavaliers. Speaking on the Draymond Green Show recently, Tristan Thompson revealed his hilarious initial reaction to the news.

“Oh man, when you guys came back with Kevin, I said, ‘These guys are out of control,’ Thompson said. “I remember I was joking around like, ‘Man, these guys sold their soul to the devil. How the hell did you guys pull this off?’ You guys are 73-9, you lose in the Finals, and you get Kevin Durant? That’s the gift you get? That’s not a bad trade. You give up one championship to get two? We call that a deal, we call that a steal.”

That’s a fair reaction for a direct competitor to have to a deal like that. When it happened, Tristan Thompson was far from the only person questioning the soul of the Golden State Warriors

Kevin Durant hasn’t lived down the decision to go there to this day, even though he did get 2 championships and 2 Finals MVPs out of the move. But there have been suggestions that the Warriors needed to get KD to win it all once again.

Andre Iguodala Said The Cavaliers Would Have Beaten The Warriors More If They Didn’t Get Kevin Durant

There have been people saying recently that LeBron James never made opponents afraid like Michael Jordan did. However, that is far from the truth if this situation is to be considered. Andre Iguodala, who was on the Warriors, claimed they would have lost to LeBron James more if they didn’t get Kevin Durant

“Yeah, to have KD. I’m taking KD all day every day. I’ve had a lot of success playing with Kevin Durant. The 2010 World Championship was his coming out party and then two NBA championships came out of that.”

Iguodala said that after Shannon Sharpe suggested to him that the Cavaliers would have won more without the move being made. In any case, some consider those titles to have an asterisk, thanks to how stacked the Warriors were. However, it was just a shrewd basketball move, however much it may have given the Warriors an almost unfair advantage.
