Tyrese Haliburton well and truly emerged as a star in the NBA in the 2022-23 season. The 23-year-old averaged 20.7 PPG, 3.7 RPG, 10.4 APG, 1.6 SPG, and 0.4 BPG and was named an All-Star for the first time in his career.
His efforts have now been rewarded by the Indiana Pacers, who have given him a five-year deal that could be worth up to $260 million.

That is a lot of money but it is hard to say Haliburton doesn’t deserve it. Last season saw him become the first player in NBA history to ever average over 20 points and 10 assists in a season while shooting over 40% from beyond the arc.
Parting with Domantas Sabonis to acquire him via trade from the Sacramento Kings in 2022 has gone down as a terrific decision by the Pacers’ front office. Haliburton, who was the 12th pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, is making a case to be the best player from his draft class and as Woj mentioned, is the franchise cornerstone now.
Tyrese Haliburton Reacted To His Extension
In case anyone is wondering how Haliburton is reacting to the news, it is safe to say he is pretty excited at the moment. He took to Twitter to express his joy by sharing a clip of Ted DiBiase, “The Million Dollar Man.”

He also went on to thank god for it and Pacers fans certainly would be doing the same.
With a contract like this comes expectations too of course and Haliburton will first be tasked with getting the Pacers back to the postseason. They went 35-47 last season to miss the playoffs for the third year in a row and a repeat of it in 2023-24 would be a disappointment.
