Point guard Tyrese Haliburton is one of the brightest young stars in the league, and there is no doubt that he is the face of the Indiana Pacers. Though he is clearly an elite player now, there were definitely some questions about him at the time he was entering the league.

Ahead of Haliburton getting drafted, many people questioned whether his shooting form would work in the league. A lot of people felt that it wouldn’t, but Haliburton recently revealed that one of the people who believed in his jump shot was Warriors coach Steve Kerr.

“When I got drafted Luke (Walton) didn’t know anything about me. One of the stories he told me recently was that Coach Kerr had called him. Cause I worked out for the Warriors. “We love that kid don’t ever touch his jumper”. Luke was like, “Are you sure?”. He was like, “Yeah, yeah. Don’t touch it”. Luke just kind of let me do my thing, and from there, nobody’s ever messed with me about it.”

Though it is true that Tyrese Haliburton’s jump shot is unconventional, it has clearly worked for him throughout his whole life. There is no reason to change what works, and Steve Kerr clearly understood that.

This past season, Tyrese Haliburton has averaged 20.7 PPG, 3.4 RPG, and 10.4 APG for the Indiana Pacers. There is no doubt that Haliburton has a very high ceiling, and we’ll see just how good he can become in the future.

Tyrese Haliburton Thinks The Indiana Pacers Could Be The Grizzlies Of The East

There is no doubt that the Indiana Pacers have a solid young core, and in a few years, they could be a special team. In fact, Tyrese Haliburton has previously claimed that they could be the Memphis Grizzlies of the Eastern Conference.

“I think the gains that we’ll see in the next 2-3 yrs are coming from today. It’s kind of like MEM. You got a young group of guys together who learn from each other & work every day, and now they’re 1 of the best teams in the league. That’s what we’re trying to get to.”

Hopefully, we do see the Indiana Pacers establish themselves as a solid playoff team in the future. Under Tyrese Haliburton’s leadership, that is entirely possible, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
